Go Super Nanny!

Recently my kids have been wanting to watch the show "Super Nanny" so I've been watching it with them.  My kids are 8 and 10 now so watching the show was a great way to reflect on how far we've come.  Many of the issues Super Nanny deals with are issues that we went through when our kids were younger.  We were able to watch how they handled things and reflect on how we delt with those same issues.  It helped for our kids to see other children that were doing some of the things that they used to do or still do and then see how the parents were handling it.

My Latest Adventure Entering A Women's Circle

I have recently been going to a women's circle.  A women's circle is when a small group of women get together and share time together.  This particular group gets starts by joining hands in a circle and someone sings a song or says a prayer.  Then we sit in a circle around the room. There is usually a talking stick or something to hold while the first person talks. It is passed around to whomever is ready to share their thoughts or feelings.  All things said or shared in the circle is confidential to that group only.

Flax "Pancakes"

My latest love and feel good recipe!!!!!! These are filling but very light in your tummy unlike the flour pancakes.  You can eat as many as you like and not crash and hour later!

Raw Flax "pancakes"

3 cups flax seed meal

2 TB liquid coconut oil

1/2 cup agave or maple syrup

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/4 cup water

Mix together and form into balls.  Flatten into small pancakes. ( I top mine with either sliced bananas or blueberries and maple syrup )

Gardening Bliss

Living in a climate that is suitable for growing year round has been the greatest blessing for learning and experimenting.  In the five short months of living here I have had numerous experiences with different insect invasions.  Ants in particular.  They haven't seemed phased by any of the deterrents I have tried.  I am an avid believer in organic gardening so I have tried to use only the safe methods.  I tried ground orange peels, coffee grounds, cinnamon, baby powder,  borax traps with almost no possitive results.  The ants have successfully eaten all o

Music recording with my children

I have recently been involved with recording a Christmas Music CD with our neighbors and my two girls.  It has been such a wonderful experience.  Recording music can be a very tedious endeavor and the girls have been amazing.  To see them both display such patience and perserverance is encouraging to me.  As a homeschool parent I tend to get down on myself when they don't cooperate with my teaching abilities but then I see them in this different light and realize that it isn't really the subject that matters,  it is the virtues you use while learning and teachi

Falling off the Raw Food Wagon

I started off great!  I went for about 3 weeks straight of  cooking and eating only raw food.  My family (husband and two young girls)  were even into it.  Then I got a bit tired.  It takes a lot of planning and prep time.  I don't always have the forthought or the time to spend on cooking so I started slipping.

Chocolate Energy Balls

Chocolate Energy Balls

This is my favorite raw food treat recipe so far.  It is also my family's favorite which says a lot.  All my friends who have tried them just get this look on their face like they have been transported to a joyous memory in their life.  I made these with a class of 2nd -6th graders and they decided to rename them "Heavenly Delights".   Hmmmm,   I think I need one now!
